The Bailey Clay Extruder System Cutting/Removal Wall Bracket is an extremely valuable component for completing large scale clay extrusions. The function of this fixture is to cut, support and remove large scale clay extrusions produced with either the System 1 or System 3 Drive Frames, accurately and effectively.
The Bailey Clay Extruder System Cutting/Removal Wall Bracket includes a central Tracking Pole, Cutting Guide and Parting Platform. The Tracking Pole is mounted to the wall. The System Drive Frame, Cutting Guide and Parting Platform are all mounted to the Tracking Pole. (Both System 1 and System 3 Drive Frames can be used with the C/R Wall Bracket.) The clay extruder barrel is then attached to the Drive Frame.
Start by adjusting the clay extruder to a comfortable height and then position the Cutting Guide approximately 6" below the die plate. Position the Parting Platform below the Cutting Guide at the correct distance for the height of the extrusion you wish to produce. Next, place a bat on top of the parting platform. Now, begin to extrude clay until the bottom of the extrusion reaches just below the Cutting Guide. The first section of clay extrusion is trimmed with a wire at the Cutting Guide to provide an even base. Continue extruding clay until the base touches the bat. A cut is then made at the Cutting Guide. At this point, the Parting Platform can be pulled forward and pivots to a lower position to provide a gap between the upper and lower clay extrusion. The finished clay form can now be removed without obstruction. Place a new bat on the Parting Platform and extrude again.
