Strontium Carbonate, a source of strontium oxide in stoneware and porcelain glazes, is useful as a flux to enhance interaction and increase fusion. A common substitute for barium carbonate (which is considered to be less safe to handle than Strontium Carbonate), particularly when a color-responsive matte is the desired effect. Use 75 g Strontium Carbonate to replace 100 g Barium Carbonate.
