BLACK ICE is a black porcelain noted for its beautiful black graphite. It has high plasticity, which makes it ideal for wheel-throwing and modelling. Its formula is very stable and provides a secure firing range between 1200 and 1240ºC (oxidizing atmosphere). Suitable for tableware (food-safe), according to ISO 6486. Available in extruded body (moist form). Presented in a practical 5 kg cylindrical format with double packaging.

Overall, a fun clay to work with. If you use too much water while throwing, you get a lot of slip, very fast, so be mindful of that (it's a porcelain, so not unexpected, but can be a change if you're used to throwing with stoneware). If you don't fire hot enough, it is more like a very dark brown than black (I fired to around cone 5.5 based on witness cones, was aiming for cone 6 but my elements were near end of life I think). It does also stain your hands and just about everything else, but would still recommend.
