Mudtools Ribs & Scrapers

The FANG series of scoring tools by Mudtools allows you to find the right tooth size for the material you’re working on. All of our FANGS are made from cutlery grade stainless steel.

Shape 5 is the same traditional kidney-shape as Shapes 0 & 1, only bigger. It offers more surface coverage, making it great for smoothing a slab of clay.

A larger version of the Long Scraper, this Extra Long Scraper is a big rib which you can use aggressively on larger pieces. The smooth edge works great for throwing.

The Mudtools Small Bowl Rib is designed to give as many radius sweeps on the clay as possible.  With a smaller curve in the front and bigger curve in the back, this is a workhorse of a rib.

Here is a rib that stands firm. Made of a heavier grade stainless steel, Mudtools Shape 7 Stainless Rib has less flexibility than some of the other ribs. The blunt end is good for carving away material or removing waste clay on the wheel.

Mudtools Shape 2 Stainless Rib is a workhorse for throwing, smoothing and compressing. In the Mudtools family, this shape is one of the firstborn.

The tool you didn't know you were missing! The Hax Tool is an exceptionally good tool for the hand builder. At almost 6″ long it can cover a lot of territory while still getting into tight spots with it’s points.

The Mudtools Paisley Scraper proves itself indispensable for sculpting, shaping, and refining leather hard clay. We like to use the teeth to remove and shape clay and then follow up with a Polymer Rib to smooth and polish.
