Macaloid is geologically and chemically similar to Bentonite. Used as a suspension agent in glazes, Macaloid can increase the drying rate of water suspended glazes. Macaloid, like bentonite, can also be used as an additive in claybodies for increased plasticity. As it fires very white, macaloid is an especially good plasticizer for white claybodies such as porcelain.
