Barium Carbonate is the main source of barium oxide in glazes where it functions as a flux and assists in producing matte finishes. It is also used to neutralize sulfates in clay bodies. NOTE: Toxic as a powder.

Barium Carbonate is the main source of barium oxide in glazes where it functions as a flux and assists in producing matte finishes. It is also used to neutralize sulfates in clay bodies. Used in glaze formulas as a flux and matting agent. Ties up sulfates in casting slips and reduces salt leaching in red clay bodies.
