Amaco Underglaze Pencils allow for excellent application control, are easy to use and are mess free. They also have a long lifespan and do not dry out the way underglazes can. We suggest using a knife or a blade when sharpening underglaze pencils and avoid pencil sharpeners.

Once applied, it is recommended that your work is coated and fired with a clear glaze. If left unglazed, Underglaze Pencils should not be used on surfaces which come in contact with food or drink.

Note: The maximum firing temperature is Cone 10 for Blue, Black, and Green, Cone 5 for Brown and Yellow, and Cone 05 for Rose.

Safety Warning
Tableware producers must test all finished ware to establish dinnerware status, due to possible variations in firing temperature and contamination. If left unglazed, Underglaze Pencils should not be used on surfaces which come in contact with food or drink. All Amaco Underglaze Pencils are LEAD FREE. Please note that the Blue pencil contains cobalt.
